Grissom Ave Structure Fire 3/16/17

On March 16th, 2017 at 6:07pm, North Brunswick Police dispatched the North Brunswick Fire Department out to 961 Grissom Ave for the reported oven fire with a smoke condition within the residence.  Deputy Chief 110 arrived on scene and advised all incoming units that it was a working structure fire and assumed command of the scene.  A second alarm was immediately requested as well as New Brunswick Fire Department as the Rapid Intervention Crew.  Rescue Engine 205, with a crew of four, was second due behind engine 101 and assisted 101’s crew with initial fire attack.  Ladder 3 was first due Ladder Company on the scene and positioned their apparatus in front of the structure.  Rescue Engine 205’s crew was split and was first to make entry into the structure with members of Engine 105’s crew.  Engine 203, with a crew of five, arrived and assumed third due engine company responsibilities by assisting both Rescue Engine 205 with interior fire attack.  Interior crews found heavy fire on the rear and side of the house.  Crews gained access to the attic and found heavy fire throughout.  Main body of fire was contained to the original fire building with minimal damage to the neighboring structure.  Crews completed an extensive overhaul and were clear from the scene at 8:48pm.  Thank you to Brookview Volunteer Fire Company for standing by at Station 2, North Brunswick Police Department, North Brunswick First Aid & Rescue Squad, North Brunswick OEM & North Brunswick Fire Marshalls Office.
